Black is the gloss black shell, the classic look for a leather fire helmet. It has a shine that Flat Black does not, and the brass Rising Phenix finial and the lime/yellow tetrahedrons show up clearly against it. If your crew wears a matte finish, look at Flat Black instead. Want the corrugated shell in gloss black? Miller Black is $1,392.
Every color is the same helmet underneath: veg-tanned leather shell, about 55 oz, NFPA complete, the same four bends and the same $1,222 price. Only the finish changes.
