Phenix TL-2 bends and Boston flat brim
Phenix TL-2 leather fire helmets ship with one factory brim bend. At Granite State Fire Helmets we sell four TL-2 bends: Standard Phenix, Boston Flat Brim, Bronx, and Colorado Curl. That is the full list. Pick the bend on the color product page when you buy an NFPA complete unit.
We are a Phenix stocking dealer in Townsend, MA. Finished traditional leather lids sit on the shelf. In-stock colors usually ship within 24 hours. That is our normal turnaround, not a hard guarantee. Traditional TL-2 NFPA complete units are $1,265. Miller corrugated TL-2 units are $1,435.

The four Phenix TL-2 bends we sell
Standard Phenix bend
The factory default brim curve. Moderate drop front to back. Firefighters often pick Standard Phenix when they want a classic leather profile without a flat front or a deep rear curl. It is the baseline look if you have no department bend preference on the build sheet.
Boston Flat Brim
Flat front brim with the traditional leather rear. This is the bend most shoppers ask for by name when they want a Boston flat brim leather fire helmet. Many career and volunteer firefighters choose Boston Flat Brim for a clean front line of sight and a familiar Northeast look. If someone says "flat brim TL-2," they usually mean this option.
Bronx bend
A more aggressive front drop than Standard Phenix. Shoppers who want a sharper front silhouette often land on Bronx. It still reads as a traditional leather structural lid, just with more front brim pitch than the standard curve.
Colorado Curl
Deep rear curl with a pronounced traditional leather profile. Firefighters who want more brim wrap in the back often choose Colorado Curl. It is the opposite end of the spectrum from a flat front: more curve, more classic leather helmet shape from the side.
Who often wants what (high level)
- Boston Flat Brim when the ask is flat brim, Boston look, or a clean front.
- Standard Phenix when there is no named bend preference, or the rider wants the factory default.
- Bronx when they want more front drop than Standard without going flat.
- Colorado Curl when they want a deep rear curl and a strong traditional side profile.
We do not invent department rules here. Your chief, SOPs, or peer lids decide the final call. If you have a photo or a Cairns look you are trying to match, send it and we will map it to one of the four Phenix factory bends.
California, New York, and Houston are not TL-2 bend options here
Phenix does not sell California, New York, or Houston as named TL-2 leather brim bends on the lids we stock. Those names show up in search because other brands or composite lines use them. On a Phenix TL-2 at GSFH you choose Standard Phenix, Boston Flat Brim, Bronx, or Colorado Curl only.
If you asked for a California, New York, or Houston style, call 603-451-2310. We will match the look to one of the four factory bends instead of listing options we do not sell.
NFPA complete unit, not a bare shell
Every stock Phenix TL-2 we sell is priced as an NFPA complete unit: leather shell plus the configured liner, earflaps, eye protection, and chin strap package for structural service. You are not buying an empty shell and hunting parts later. Bend is one option on that complete unit.
